Vista Equity Partners, the private equity giant that's known for its tech investing, doesn't want its analysts using generative AI for due diligence. "And we do want our humans to actually go and read the stuff that's important that's going to make billion-dollar decisions in the diligence side." Other private equity firms, like the Swedish giant EQT, have introduced generative AI to the due diligence process, BI previously reported. Vista Equity Partners, which is in the business of buying companies, improving them, and selling them for a profit, employs people whose sole job is to transform operations of portfolio companies and help them scale, Saroya said. He added that the firm created a reference guide for its portfolio companies, including the data, cloud, and other software providers needed to be successful, and partnered with those companies for the portfolio companies to use, where appropriate.

A Meta product manager who also worked at Google in a similar role revealed some differences between the tech companies based on his experiences over the past six years. AdvertisementCompany transparencyMeta does maintain some of the transparency the company was known for in its earlier days, McKinnon wrote. At Meta, McKinnon was aware of what other teams were working on, partly through the company's internal forums and dashboards. At Google, employees mostly communicate through email or chat, so it's more difficult to know what everyone is doing, McKinnon wrote. At Google, McKinnon saw that projects were largely created and led by software engineers, and PMs played a more auxiliary role.

But dating and relationships coach Anwar White says the secret to success for single women seeking a long-term partner is slightly more nuanced. Courtesy of Anwar WhiteIn dating, White said professional women should be more like CEOs because it helps them set boundaries. Like many other ambitious women, Sherri found herself balancing a "go with the flow" dating approach with her instinct as a professional to be hyper-organized — aka "intern energy." "Now I am the CEO of my dating life, and I control my schedule, control the pace of all my relationships." Unlike some friends outside the program, Sherri said she's not "burned out" by her dating life because she calls the shots.

I wanted wealth, exotic cars, luxury vacations, time, and freedom, so I pivoted to real estate. I started my business in 2017, and in 2023, we made $11.5 million in revenue and $1.4 million in net profit. I started listening to the "BiggerPockets" podcast and read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad," which motivated me to pursue financial freedom. I expected it to take me 15 years to replace my salaried income through real estate, but I was determined. Zuckerberg is expected to tout the company’s more than 30 safety controls, according to prepared testimony released ahead of the hearing. In recent weeks, Meta has also begun hiding more “age-inappropriate” content in teens’ feeds and restricting teens from receiving direct messages from people they don’t follow. Ideally, Clegg said, Zuckerberg would authorize as many as 124 new hires, but acknowledged that financial pressures could make it difficult. After months of radio silence from Zuckerberg, Clegg tried to follow up, this time with a slimmed-down proposal that envisioned either 25 new hires or, if even that was infeasible, just seven. “This would be the bare minimum needed to meet basic policymaker inquiries,” Clegg wrote to Zuckerberg on Nov. 10, 2021.

Eventually, in 2013, then- CEO Dick Costolo , who found the GIF avatars annoying, closed the loophole. Tech workers in Europe enjoyed a golden period of inflated salaries during the pandemic. One CEO told Insider that he now feels some staffers aren't "worth" the pandemic price tag. That didn't just apply to good engineers, always gold dust, but to good HR staff, marketers, and other less technical roles. Few CEOs will say this aloud, but this attitude has clearly manifested in widespread, global layoffs across the tech industry. Pay for tech workers in Europe in general rose significantly during COVID-19 with salaries increasing by around 50% between 2018 and 2021, according to data from Advanced HR, cited by Sifted.

Former Amazon managers say they were pressured to cut successful workers to meet attrition goals. In anticipation of Amazon's performance-review period, he told Insider, he'd kept careful notes on what his employees were doing well and where they could improve. These people said leadership would place employees in Focus even if the managers of those employees said that the workers had met or exceeded expectations. A few weeks later, he said, his manager told him he was on Pivot and had the option to leave the company with severance, which he did. Amazon managers are required to submit their performance ratings for employees in an online tool, then discuss their rationale with managers above them, he said.
The company even added the slogan "Strive to be Earth's Best Employer" to its set of 16 leadership principles it religiously follows. But 18 months into the launch, employees say the Earth's Best Employer project is off to a bad start. He added that the Earth's Best Employer initiative should focus on creating a meritocracy and long-term goals for the company. For many Amazon employees, the lack of transparency during last month's layoffs seemed to contradict the company's best employer credo. As the economy worsens, some employees believe Amazon's Earth's Best Employer initiative was all just a "marketing gimmick."

The National Archives and Records Administration, or NARA, sent a letter to representatives of former presidents and vice presidents from the last six presidential administrations covered by the Presidential Records Act (PRA), the report added.
